As I age and thus ponder
Of a whole new year in the yonder
And of the 365 days packaged in a deal
Oh my, a day at a time sometimes is an ordeal!
Whenever I've wished upon a star
For setting a higher bar
I have soared in the skies and fallen with a thud
I now choose to pick myself up from the dust and mud.
I prefer to take it one day at time
And when my head touches the pillow as the bells chime
I ask for strength to journey to dusk from dawn
In peace and quiet much like a freshly mowed green lawn.
Every day is a miracle, I've learnt by rote
Let me be thankful for life's little footnote
That I find more often in many a shelf
Maybe I am rediscovering a new side of the self?
Its a brand new dawn
