I've heard a lot of quotations from famous people singing praises of the chocolate. I've even listed quite a few here. But in this regard, I beg to differ. As I mentioned in my profile, I hate chocolate and/or any food item with chocolate in it(that includes milk shakes, cakes, pastries, etc etc). I believe in being an equal opportunity dessert eater. I give the strawberries, the vanilla and other fruits and nuts a chance. Keep in mind, even though I stay away from eating fruits and nuts , I'd take anything in the form of ICECREAM.

Last night, while I went grocery shopping, I felt like I had reached icecream heaven. I'll take icecream any day, but I can get quite picky if need be. My stomach holds a special place for Haagen Dazs specially pistachio, strawberry and mango(exactly in that order). Its got to be Haagen Dazs. No other brand, none other flavors will do for my holiness-my venter. Yea kinda hard to please, I know! You're telling me! I also have a bone to pick with Haagen Dazs. None of these flavors come in sizes bigger than a pint. And the numero uno flavor-pistachio- is SO hard to find!!! If you can get to your grocery store and find this flavor on your first trip, call me. Such is my addiction for this flavor that I have registered to have Haagen Dazs email me when they have shipped a new batch of these tubs to the grocery store closest to where I live. Yea, alright, call me desperate. So whats new.

So last night, I found ALL three flavors neatly stocked in the icecream section. Now isnt that like accidently landing at the gates of heaven? I quickly swept all tubs of the pistachio, a couple of the strawberry and the mango. While watching Idol, I felt like I was watching it from cloud nine which I dug into a bowl of all three flavors. And today, just to go the extra mile, my meal consists of just icecream. Yea, I'm sure my bathroom scale will have a lot to say and I have a lot of explaining to do. But what the hell, I just had an icecream blast!

That might well be true, I have no way of validating that claim, since I've never sat on a throne. But I will say this- I have a strange affinity to benches. No, I dont use the benchpress for workouts.

This is quite evident in my photographic ventures. Everytime I am out with my camera, casually taking pictures of the landscape, if ever I were to spot a lone bench in the woods, or on the beach, my fingers itch. I am not kidding. And its not about taking pictures whilst seated on this afore-mentioned bench. I just like the sight of a lone bench.






"A picture is worth a thousand words" holds true.

But if I had to put in words what the picture of a lone bench stands for me , it would be thus :
It gives me hope that I can rest my weary legs.
A well deserved break after a long day's hike.
A few moments to catch my breath and assimilate my thoughts.
A cozy spot to sit and watch time pass by.
A break to break the monotony of the day
An inviting place to watch passersby

I dont believe I could say a thousand words to match what a picture can convey, hence I take pictures.

I have lost quite a few of these precious gems due to the recent debacle of the crashing hard disk and the only pictures to prove my point are the ones I've included in this blog.

I am hopeful that there will be more to my collection and I plan to add those into this blog. Quite recently though, I did talk to my apartment management. There is this very pretty walkway around the complex that winds through the woods and a pond(a very shabby one, I must say, maybe water-collecting-body would be an apt description). Many times, as I walk through this path, imagining it to be my own private woods around my villa, I have felt the need to sit at a bench. I hence suggested to the lady at the office that they throw in a couple of metal benches(I saw some at Goodwill for a throwaway price of 20$ a piece). She gave me a glassy-eyed look and shrugged. I am guessing my suggestion wasnt too welcome. She probably wanted to tell me to take a long walk(literally!) but sheer protocol of courtsey to the residents held her back.

Never mind, when I do have my own abode, a metal bench will definitely glorify the exalted landscape.
