Yooooooooohoooooooooooo! So L finally did keep her word and she says thus :

"Awright! This takes care of my obligation. With 3 days to spare no less!!
Do what you will with it :)"

Yup, yup- good job L! Awesome-O! For both keeping your word and coming up with this beautiful piece.

So here I present "The Perfect Girlfriend" by L as part of the outsourced series, a burst of brilliance penned not by the usual jaded mint.

==================================================
Once upon a time there lived a perfect little girl. She knew she was perfect because everyone told her so. What a good little girl you are, they said. What a perfect wife you will make someone they said. She took it to heart and decided she wanted to grow up into a perfect girlfriend on the way to becoming a perfect wife and a perfect mother. She knew she could do it. All around her she saw wives set rules for their husbands. There was a division of labor. One cooked while the other did the dishes. Girlfriends set expectations of their boyfriends. There were pre-set date-nights. Agreements were made on how much the men had to spend on important occasions.I'll never set any rules for my boyfriend, she thought looking at all that. I'll never make my man tow the line. I'll be caring and loving and understanding. I'll not be clingy or indifferent or demanding. In fact I will be the perfect little girlfriend for my man, she vowed. All I want is a self-made man. And so she waited patiently for her Prince Charming to arrive in her life.

Years passed and the perfect little girl was little no more. She had grown into a perfect woman. She had a career which while not perfect she strived to be perfect at. And she still clung to her dreams of meeting the perfect man to whom she'd be a perfect girlfriend. Then one day meet him she did. He was sweet and charming and very nice. He made her laugh and feel like a little girl again. In no time he had totally swept her off her feet.

Can you cook, he asked her one day, for nothing pleased him more than a good home cooked meal. Yes, she cried happily and set about planning a scrumptious menu.
Can you drive, he asked. Surely can, she replied as she hurried to get directions to all the places he wanted to visit.

Soon her weeks were filled with cooking and cleaning and making a perfect home for him. Her weekends were full of plans of his making, exploring places and doing activities of his liking.

But something was not right in her perfect life. I'm being a perfect girlfriend she thought. Then why don't I feel perfectly happy and satisfied? Why do I feel so tired, overworked and unappreciated?
Why, she asked him, do you not bring me flowers and little gifts as a sign of appreciation for all my hard-work?

Oh, he replied, I didn't know you worked so hard to please me. I thought it was because it pleased you.

Why don't you offer to do the dishes or take out the garbage, she queried.
Because I can't, he replied. I am no good at housework.

But, I wanted a self-made man, she cried peevishly.

I am one, he replied calmly. I may not have been made in the mould of your liking. But self-made I am, having put myself through school and having been on my own and taken care of myself for more than half my life.

She sighed. He was right of course. Unfortunately, her perfect lifestyle wasn't working for her. She looked up at him and said, for "us" to work, there needs to be some change around here. For starters, there are going to be some rules ....

The perfect little girl was no more. She was just an ordinary woman trying to find a little happiness in an imperfect world.

Munimma : I will certainly ask. In fact I will ask her to respond to the comments.

Orchie : Hm answer to that would be she "officially" does have a blog- which has been defunct for a few months(years?).

Let me herd her over and get HRH to comment :P

that was a nice piece and a 'perfect' depiction of the imperfect but interesting lives we lead.
