I've come to realise this for myself. For a long time I kept at what's now turned into my career- that of an IT person, in the fond hope that one day I'd go back to my REAL longing which was really to paint. Hm, yes.
I love water colors. I love charcoal. I love oil, acrylics. Besides all these mediums, I love feasting my eyes on art work. It gives me a high. But these days, looking at art makes me sad. All the artistry and creativity makes me heavy with all the time lost.
In the mean time, pigs have become my style.

i read randy pausch in time magazine. someone wrote to him saying. 'dear randy, i have terminal cancer and am an IT person. i have always wanted to be an artist. should i continue in my current job? or travel? or go to art school?" and randy said, "go to art school. follow your heart."
God, maybe that's where my singing went.
But then, I love what I'm doing. I plan to make a career through a hybrid born of all the things I stand for and love. How do you choose between one love and another when there is so little time?
why is it that every IT person i meet has the same thoughts... most of the guys-gals in IT i know wish to move fields! i can't find it too difficult to imagine the reasons tho.

blueshues : the reasons are most times quite obvious and understandable. There's isnt a lot of creativity in IT, mostly scientific, repetitive and logical. No artistic liberty needed and/or possible. Hence the frustration for the creatively inclined :)
