Alright, time for another trip back in time!
I first got introduced to Asterix comics when my uncle(mother's bro) bought two brand spanking new copies (I believe it was Asterix and the Big Fight and Asterix and the Soothsayer) from Gangarams on his annual visit.
Having been spoilt by Tintin I was reluctant to give these a try. The trick with trying new comics is the initiation process of learning about the characters, the history and background. Sometimes one prefers to laze comfortably in the known world of Five Findouters or Famous Five or some such. When I'd run out of other options, try I did.
I instantly fell in love with the characters, the setting, the history-I fell for this series lock, stock and barrel. I borrowed every book in the series once and many times over such that now I know every story and have memorized most of the lines. But I can always go back any time, any day and re-read another one of this wonderful series. What always amazes me is the ingenuity and creativity of these authors to have produced such a great setting, the stupendous characterization, the humor and the jest. And last but not the least, sheer appreciation for the names used(this is by far the biggest highlight). Credit must also be given for the translation, which has maintained the essence and impact of the stories without taking away the nuances of the vernacular.

Couldn't agree more :-) Brought back such memories that I actually went and added five of these to my Amazon wish-list...
