Here in our part of the world, its been cloudy, gloomy and wet for days nah make it weeks. And there's no sun in sight. I have come to realize that this persistent gloominess in weather not only affects one's demeanor-- it is also infectious. At work this week, I have run into many a coworker that has looked morose and complained about the weather that I feel included, like I am not the only one being influenced by external forces. Almost everyone pinches themselves to check if they haven't landed in Seattle by mistake. Such is our state right now.
Sunday mornings are usually busy- cooking and cleaning for the week and then off to get some chores rounded up. Come 2pm and you are home for a relaxed lunch. The dishes are cleared up, the counters are clean, laundry is done..and as you settle into your favorite couch and turn on the TV for some mindless entertainment, you feel yourself pulling up the warm throw that sprawls casually across the ottoman. The slow and dulcet tone of the speaker in Discovery Channel's Wild Africa wants you to concentrate, but the food and the warm sun streaming into the french windows of a lazy Sunday afternoon drag you the other way. Very soon you are off in another land...the land of snooze. When you wake up, its around 5. The sun is still wide awake. You make yourself a cup of tea and get a batch of munchies. Discovery Channel is still on, but nothing is registering. Your sense are dulled by the short nap and you realize you still have a a good part of the weekend to your disposal.
In the blink of the eye, its 10pm and the weekend has officially closed. That time between 5 and 10pm is a blur, all brought on by the snooze that you indulged in. Good thing your task list looks clean and empty. Time for more shut eye, cos after all, tomorrow is another day.
